Hit and Run Driver Returns to Scene, Identified by Witnesses and Arrest

A man who allegedly fled a hit and run accident was taken into custody after he returned to the scene of the incident.

Late on the evening of Monday, April 12, Stockton Police officers were investigating a hit and run accident on the 9100 block of Cherbourg Way in the Valley Oak District. A crowd of people had gathered in the area when the suspect vehicle drove by and several witnesses identified it as the one involved in the incident.   

Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle but, the driver failed to stop and slow speed one minute pursuit ensued. The pursuit reached speeds of 25 mph and covered a half of a mile. 

The suspect, Francisco Leon, 31, pulled over and was taken into custody. Leon was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, hit and run, reckless driving and evading police.
