Parolee Connected to Suspected Robbery of Prescription Drugs Arrested by Elk Grove Police

April 27, 2017 |

A probationer was arrested yesterday afternoon during an investigation by Elk Grove Police of a robbery of a local drug store.

The arrest came after police investigated a robbery of the Walgreens drug store on the 7200 block of Laguna Boulevard. In that incident, two suspects jumped the pharmacy counter and demanded specific medications from a female employee.

After stealing the medication, the two unknown suspects fled the store on foot and responding officers were unable to locate them. Both suspects were described as Black male adults.

In the course of their investigation, police contacted Miles Jacob Gates, 22, of Sacramento and a records check revealed he was on probation. Gates was found to be in violation of his parole, and the investigation connected him to the two robbery suspects.

Gates is being held on robbery and violation of parole charges and is not eligible for release. Arraignment is scheduled for Friday, April 28.
