Road Closure For Funeral Procession of Jerry Strong in Effect on Saturday Morning

The City of Elk Grove will implement temporary traffic controls along Elk Grove Boulevard and Waterman Road on Saturday, April 22 to facilitate a funeral procession honoring longtime Elk Grove resident Jerry Strong.
The procession is expected to consist of a horse-drawn hearse, a fire engine and as many as 300 pedestrians. The procession is scheduled to travel from Jerry and Jeanne Strong Park at 9580 Baypoint Way to Hilltop Cemetery at 9420 Waterman Road at approximately 10 a.m.
Traffic Delays & Detours: A traffic plan has been created and road closures and detours will be in effectfrom approximately 9:30 to 11:30 am or until the procession has reached its destination. Motorists are encouraged to use Elk Grove-Florin Road or Bradshaw Road during the closure.
Below are the closures for the April 22nd event:

  • West bound Elk Grove Boulevard from the roundabout at Strong Park to Waterman Road
  • North and south bound traffic on Waterman Road from Bond Road to Elk Grove Boulevard
  • Driveway access points into or out of the Bel Air Shopping Center located at Elk Grove Boulevard and Waterman Road will be temporarily closed and no ingress or egress will be allowed.
  • Some residential routes from Waterman Road may also be affected including but not necessarily limited to Rancho Drive.
