Stockton Police Arrest Man Who Attempts Robbery With Machete

A man is in custody today after he allegedly tried to rob a Stockton business under the threat of a machete.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 the suspect walked into a business on the  5100 block of Montabaun Avenue in the Valley Oak District and took merchandise without paying. When the male store employee attempted to stop the theft, the suspect tried to strike the victim with a machete.

The suspect failed in his attempts and fled on foot. Responding Stockton Police officers stopped the suspect who was running towards a car with his machete. 

The suspect, who was identified as Wayne Reece, 36,  was taken into custody without further incident and charged with robbery and an outstanding warrant. All of the property was recovered, and no injuries were reported.
