Along with the ever-popular Independence Day fireworks display, if viewing or participating in a pie eating contest is your thing, then Elk Grove's Salute to the Red, White and Blue celebration is the place to be this Fourth of July.  

Held as it has been for over two decades at the Elk Grove Regional Park, the event includes a host of activities and admission is free. There is a $10 parking fee.

Schedule of events:

4 p.m. - Opening of Vendor Exhibits
5:30 p.m. - “Let Freedom Ride” Bike and Stroller Parade
6 p.m. - Live entertainment and music - click link for more details
6:30 p.m. - All American Pie Eating Contest 
7 p.m. - Opening Ceremonies, National Anthem and City Council remarks
9:30 p.m. - Fireworks Spectacular, listen to the fireworks soundtrack as it’s simulcast on 93.7, The River

Gates open at 7 a.m and alcohol, personal fireworks and pets, excluding service animals, are strictly prohibited. The Park’s dog park and disc golf course amenities will be closed for this event.

The city's bus services, eTran will also provide free transportation to the park. Here is a map and schedule of the two planned routes.
