A clerk at a Chevron gas station on Florin Road was killed in a shooting late last night.
According to information released by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a 911 call at the Chevron Station on the corner of Florin and Florin Perkins roads in south Sacramento just before 10:30 p.m.
Deputies located the 20-year-old male victim on the ground in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Deputies immediately began life saving measures but was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Deputies learned that one of the employees of the gas station was cleaning the gas station parking lot, and at one point he had a verbal altercation with two to three suspects that were loitering in the parking lot. One of the suspects physically assaulted the employee during the verbal altercation.
That employee went inside the store to call 911 about the assault and his co-worker, the victim, then exited the store and was approached by these same suspects. One of the suspects produced a handgun and fired several shots at the victim killing him.
The suspects were described as three Hispanic male adults. They fled the scene in a light colored compact car south on Florin-Perkins Road.
The identity of the victim in this case will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
