Shooting Victim Detained in Monday Night Homicide in Elk Grove

Elk Grove Police have detained a person in a shooting incident last night that left one person dead and another wounded.

Responding police officers last night found the murder victim, who had sustained gunshot wounds, on the 7500 block of Elk Grove Boulevard in Elk Grove. Around the same time, another person appeared at an area hospital with a gunshot wound, and police at that time believed they were related. 

According to information released this morning, the shooting victim who appeared at the hospital has been detained as a suspect in the murder. Once the suspect is medically cleared, he will be interviewed and booked into the county jail.

Detectives also believe another person is involved in the incident and are pursuing the investigation. The shooting is not believed to have been random.

The names of the victim and suspect have not been released, nor has the circumstances surrounding the incident. More information is expected to be released this afternoon.
