An Elk Grove man was arrested by Elk Grove Police for a warrant on suspicion of inflicting corporal injury on spouse or cohabitant. While an arrest for a domestic violence-type charge is unfortunately common, this one was notable because of its location.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, police officers arrested Rashard Jamal Robinson, 40, on the 6100 block of Demonte Way. According to residents in the vicinity, the arrest was made at a dwelling that has been a source of numerous complaints in the East Franklin neighborhood.

Witnesses of the incident confirm that eight patrol vehicles were involved in the arrest of the suspect. Robinson is being held at the county jail on a bail of $35,500 for a misdemeanor charge and will be arraigned on Friday, July 21.

The residence where Robinson was arrested at has been an ongoing source of frustration for neighbors. On at least two occasions, the most recent being at the July 12, 2017, Elk Grove City Council meeting, neighbors have expressed concern about the alleged activities at the house, which reportedly functions as multi-family dwelling with an absentee owner.

The day after the constituent comments were made at the last council meeting, Elk Grove Police placed a mobile video camera tower in one of the neighborhoods described during public comments.

In addition to the arrest of Robinson, police have also taken other criminal suspects into custody at this location. On June 28, Elk Grove Police arrested two suspects, Andrew Jackson, 40, and Tagiilima Tautau, 45 on various charges.

On Thursday, May 4, 2017, Tautau was arrested by Elk Grove Police on suspicion of burglary. At that time, Tautau was not immediately eligible for release because of previous charges.

Tautau remains in custody at the county jail with a projected release date of August 12, 2017.

Correction - The suspect was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for Penal Code 273.5(A) corporal injury on spouse or cohabitant. It was first reported he was arrested for a domestic violence incident.
