Suspected Shoplifter Assaults Elk Grove Grocery Store Employee

An Elk Grove grocery store employee was assaulted as they attempted to contact a suspected shoplifting suspect.

Just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 16 two unknown suspects were observed shoplifting at the Save Mart grocery store on Elk Grove-Florin Road. When the suspects left the store with the stolen merchandise, they were approached by an employee.

When the employee attempted to stop the suspects, one of the suspects punched the employee. Both suspects, who were described as Black male adults wearing light-colored shirts, fled the in a white four-door sedan.
