Elk Grove Suspect Arrested For Assault & Robbery, Holding Victim For Purposes of Prostitution

September 7, 2017 |

An Elk Grove man is being held at the Sacramento County Jail after being arrested for a variety of charges including human trafficking.

On Wednesday, September 6, Elk Grove Police contacted Anthony Maurice Carter, 26, on the 9600 block of Melrose during a call for service. During the contact, officers were told that Carter allegedly struck the victim, whom he knows, in the head with a bottle and took her her purse.

Officers determined that Carter also held the victim against her will for the purposes of prostitution. Carter was arrested and is being held on five felony charges, including human trafficking, and is not eligible for release for violation of post-release supervision.

Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, September 8.
