A second challenger for California's Seventh Congressional District will formally announce their candidacy this afternoon on a local talk radio program.

Dr. Yona Barash of Fair Oaks, Calif. will formally enter the race to challenge Democratic incumbent Dr. Ami Bera. The formal announcement will be made on the John McGinness show which airs at 3 p.m. on KFBK, 1530 AM and 93.1 FM.

According to his website, Barash is a surgeon and a member of the California State Bar. Barash and his family survived the Nazi and communist occupation in his native Romania.

Barash immigrated to the United States in 1975 from Israel where he attended Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem. With his entry into the race, Barash joins fellow Republican Andrew Grant as challengers to unseat Bera, who is now in his third term for the district which covers suburban Sacramento County.
