This weekend the Elk Grove Regional Park will play host to the annual Giant Pumpkin Festival.

The two day event, which is sponsored by the Cosumnes Community Services District, starts on the morning of Saturday, October 7 at 10 a.m. The festival will feature several family friendly activities.

Arguably the highlight of the event is the Major League Eating-sanctioned pumpkin pie eating contest. That event will start at 1:30 p.m.

One of this year's featured competitors is Miki Sudo, who is a heavyweight in the close-knit world of competitive eaters. This summer Sudo won her fourth consecutive Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest held on the Fourth of July. (See video of last year's contest below).

Another popular event at the festival is the annual Giant Pumpkin Weight-off constest. That event will be held on Saturday morning.

Admission to the event is free, however parking is $10. More information about the musical acts and the events is available here.
