Sacramento Man Arrested By Roseville Police After Allegedly Soliciting Young Girl For Sex on Snapchat

January 4, 2018 |

A Sacramento man is being held at the Placer County Jail after he was arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from a young girl.

Yesterday afternoon, Roseville Police Department detectives arrested Gilberto Garcia-Bejarano, 21,  on suspicion of sending and soliciting sexually explicit material from a minor, attempting to contact a minor for sexual purposes, and possessing false immigration documents. Garcia-Bejarano is suspected of contacting an 8-year-old girl via Snapchat and asking her to meet with him to have sex.

On January 1, the mother of  victim contacted Roseville Police about finding inappropriate Snapchat messages on her daughter’s cell phone. Detectives investigated and found that over the previous week, a then-unidentified adult male had sent the girl sexually explicit photos, had asked her to send him nude photos of herself, and had proposed meeting with her to have sex.

After learning of the incident, police detectives contacted the suspect over Snapchat, posing as the victim, and arranged to meet him for sexual activity. On the afternoon of January 2, the suspect showed up at the agreed-upon location in Sacramento, thinking he was going to meet with the underage victim, and instead was met by Roseville detectives.

Garcia-Bejarano is being held on a $100,000 bail
