A Modesto, California man remains in custody at the Sacramento County Jail after being arrested on suspicion of illegally growing marijuana.

In the late morning of Friday, January 5 officers from Elk Grove Police's Street Crimes Unit served a warrant of the 6600 block of Rio De Onar Way in the East Franklin neighborhood regarding an indoor marijuana growing operation. Detectives recovered over 500 plants and 94 pounds of processed pot.

Sacramento Municipal Utility District also determined that power was being diverted to run the operation. Jorge Ale Betancourt (pictured above) was arrested and booked into the county jail, is ineligible for bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, January 9.
