With The New Year, Elk Grove Modifies Bulk Junk Collection Procedures

January 2, 2018 |

As part of the new agreement reached last year between the City of Elk Grove and their garbage collection vendor, Republic Services, new procedures for the bulk junk collection services will be implemented in 2018.

In the past, the City would conduct an annual large-item collection that rotated throughout the various neighborhoods. At this once a year collection, residents could place large items for curbside removal.

The new agreement does away with the annual neighborhood-by-neighborhood collection and allows customers up to three collections per-year at their residence as part of the monthly service fee. To use this service an appointment is required.

The service is part of the new agreement the City executed last year with Republic Services. One of the main features of the new deal has been the privatization of the billing functions with Republic Services now providing the services, which experienced numerous administrative hiccups when it was introduced last year.

Residents can call (916) 635-2500 to schedule a pick-up, which must be on their regular pick-up day.  Elk Grover residents can also use the Elder Creek Transfer Station on Elder Creek Road, Sacramento, free of charge once a year with proof of residency.
