Witness Aids Elk Grove Mugging Victim, Detains Suspect For Police

A juvenile suspected of a mugging was apprehended by a witness to the incident at an Elk Grove grocery store.

Just before 11 am on Wednesday, January 18 the female victim was walking to her car in the parking lot of the Winco grocery store on Sheldon Road. A juvenile male suspect approached the victim and tried snatching her purse.

A witness observed the suspect take the purse and flee. The witness pursued the suspect and was able to detain him until Elk Grove Police officers arrived.

A records check revealed the 15-year old suspect had an active arrest warrant. The suspect was taken into custody and transferred to juvenile hall.
