Teen Driver Almost Hits Pedestrians Near Elementary School, Leads Elk Grove Police on Short Pursuit

February 21, 2018 |

A 17-year old female suspect in custody after she allegedly came close to hitting children with her vehicle near an Elk Grove elementary school.

At 7:51 a.m., an Elk Grove Police officer was in the area of Arlen Hein Elementary School near Bellaterra Drive and Castelli Way when a driver was observed going through a stop sign. As a result of the failure to stop, the motorist just missed another vehicle and some pedestrians.

The patrol officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver led them on a short pursuit. The juvenile driver eventually stopped and was taken into custody.

The suspect was placed in juvenile hall and is charged with two counts of reckless driving and driving without a license.
