Man Taken Into Custody By Elk Grove Police After Tossing Rocks in Roadway, Resisting Arrest

An Elk Grove man is being held at the Sacramento County Jail after he allegedly resisted arrest.

At 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10 police responded to a call for service at Elk Grove Boulevard and Bruceville Road. Responding officers located Ceyhun Tanyar Smith, 38, who was reportedly throwing rocks into the roadway.

Upon seeing the officers, Smith fled on foot, and when officers were attempting to detain him, the suspect refused to comply with orders and resisted. Once detained, Smith was arrested and booked into the county jail.

Smith is held on one felony and misdemeanor charges with bail set at $20,000. Arraignment will be on Thursday, April 12.
