Elk Grove Traffic Advisory - Detours, Closures For Amgen Tour of California Cycling Event

Today and tomorrow the City of Elk Grove will implement traffic controls to host the 2018 Amgen Tour of California. The city will host Stage 1 of the Women’s Race and the Stage 5 finish of the Men’s Race tomorrow, Thursday, May 17.

Traffic Delays & Detours: A traffic plan has been created and temporary road closures and detours are now in effect for both directions of Big Horn Blvd and Civic Center Drive to accommodate the finish line and Lifestyle Festival. Expanded closures will take effect along the race route on Thursday, May 17 from approximately 10:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on race day.

Full Day Closures:

Road Closures to support the start/finish line and Lifestyle Festival will affect the following main streets and adjacent streets in both directions all day:
·         Big Horn Blvd. from Lotz Parkway to Elk Grove Blvd.
·         Civic Center Drive from Laguna Springs Drive to Bruceville Road
Women’s Race Start:
Road closures will be in place from approximately 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and affect the following main streets and adjacent streets in both directions:
·         Bruceville Rd from Civic Center Drive to Whitelock Pkwy.
·         Whitelock Pkwy from Bruceville Rd to Franklin Blvd
·         Franklin Blvd from Blossom Ridge Rd to Bilby Rd.
Women’s Finish:
Road closures will be in place from approximately 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and affect the following main streets and adjacent streets in both directions:
·         Bilby Rd from Franklin Blvd to Bruceville Rd
·         Bruceville Rd from Kammerer Rd to Whitelock Pkwy
·         Whitelock Pkwy from Bruceville Rd to Big Horn Blvd
·         Big Horn Blvd from Whitelock Pkwy to Elk Grove Blvd.
Men’s Finish:
Road closures will be in place from approximately 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and affect the following main streets and adjacent streets in both directions:
·         Bruceville Rd from Kammerer Rd to Whitelock Pkwy
·         Whitelock Pkwy from Bruceville Rd to Big Horn Blvd
·         Big Horn Blvd from Whitelock Pkwy to Elk Grove Blvd.
Alternative Routes: Elk Grove Boulevard will remain open for motorists traveling east and westbound. Franklin Blvd. or West Stockton Blvd are suggested alternate north/south routes during race closures. Motorists attempting to travel near the event during peak race times should expect up to 30 minute delays.
