Juvenile Allegedly in Possession of Stolen Firearm, Arrested By Elk Grove Police

A 16-year old Elk Grove male is in custody at juvenile hall after a late night encounter with Elk Grove Police.

According to police department reports, the suspect and other subjects were contacted after 11 p.m. at the rear of a business located on the 9600 block of Elk Grove-Florin Road. Upon contact, officers noticed a firearm near the suspect.

After detaining the subjects, officers learned the loaded firearm had been reported stolen. A search of the suspect's backpack also led to the discovery of marijuana, which is illegal for a minor to possess, and ammunition.  

The suspect was taken into custody and placed in juvenile hall.
