Efforts to recall the Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge who gave a lenient sentence to a convicted rapist has reportedly succeeded.

According to current tallies, 58-percent of voters in the Santa Clara County recall of Judge Aaron Persky have voted to remove the embattled jurist from the bench. Persky drew nation-wide condemnation when he sentenced Brock Turner to a six-month sentence in county jail after he was convicted in 2016 of sexually assaulting his female victim.

Turner, served only three months of his sentence and was released early for good behavior.

In the race to fill the remaining four years of his term, Assistant District Attorney Cindy Hendrickson has won the election. Persky is the first judge to be recalled in California in 85 years.

Results from that recall election can be viewed here.
