Grant announces Elk Grove town hall meeting and new endorsements; another independent mailer dropped for Bera

August 14, 2018 |

Republican congressional candidate Andrew Grant announced that he would hold a town hall meeting in Elk Grove in his race against Democratic incumbent Dr. Ami Bera. Grant is running for California's 7th congressional district also announced more endorsements.

The town hall meeting will be held on Thursday, August 16 at the Laguna Town Hall, 3020 Renwick Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. The meeting is the first Grant plans to hold throughout the district.

Along with announcing plans for the town hall meetings, Grant also acknowledged two recent endorsements. Those endorsements came from the Folsom Chamber of Commerce and the Sacramento Police Officer's Association.

"I am honored to have earned SPOA's support," said Grant. "Law enforcement is an integral part of our community. They are our neighbors and friends that put their lives on the line every day. I am committed to support them as their representative in Congress."

On Bera's campaign front, voters in Elk Grove yesterday received another mailer (see below) from an independent expenditure committee. This piece was from the Partnership To Fight Chronic Disease, and it highlighted Bera's support of Part D benefits for Medicare recipients.

Independent expenditure committees work independently of campaigns and by law are not permitted to coordinate activities. IE's as they are often referred to work to support or oppose candidates or legislation.

According to this story posted on Medium.com, by Dr. Joyce Lee, MD, MPH, Physician, Designer, Researcher, PFCD is funded in part by Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is a trade group for pharmaceutical companies.
