In a notice officially posted this afternoon, the Elk Grove City Council has scheduled a special meeting on Tuesday, September 4.

The meeting, which will start at 6 p.m. in the city council chambers, has one closed session item for consideration - public employee employment/appointment for the city manager of Elk Grove. The city council could be considering the appointment of Jason Behrman, the current interim city manager, as the permanent city manager.

Behrmann was appointed city manager on an interim basis after the termination of Laura Gill in April. At the time of Gill's May 2018 dismissal, Mayor Steve Ly was the only council member who voted to retain her while the other four council members supported the termination and have reportedly favored hiring Behrmann for the position.
