Podcast - Congressional candidate Andrew Grant discusses social media backlash

August 27, 2018 |

As is typical with any candidate seeking office, reaching out to a diverse voter base is an essential part of a campaign. This is particularly important in California's 7th Congressional District which is not only diverse but is one of the most competitive in the nation.

As part of his campaign against Democratic incumbent Congressman Dr. Ami Bera, Republican Grant is not surprisingly reaching out to the districts diverse population. This weekend Grant attended functions organized by Jewish, Muslin and Sikh groups in the district.

It was his attendance at an event organized by the Islamic Society of Folsom the drew attention after posting pictures on Facebook. Almost immediately after posting the above picture, Grant faced a backlash.

In a telephone conversation recorded this afternoon, Grant discussed his reaction to the comments.
