At the Wednesday, January 9, Elk Grove City Council meeting there were several residents and business owners who spoke against the proposed $750 million hospital proposed on Taron Dr. on the city's west side.

Among those who spoke against the neighborhood-altering facility was Elizabeth Brown who along with her husband David Brown own the increasingly popular Dreaming Dog Brewery. In other media reports, the Brown's have said they had invested all of their life's savings - about $1 million - in the brewery.

See all of Ms. Brown's testimony to the city council below.

So let me see it I got this right...owner of retail center sells to university and pockets a nice chunk of change...tenants with existing leases have new landlord but writing is on the wall, universities are not in the business of commercial real estate...talk about being sold down the river...university tells tenants they will do right thing for tenants...despite that informal promise, tenants mount media campaign about being wronged...city officials tout project and new jobs it will create...Council member Suen whose district this is located in, is up for re-election in 2020.

Taxpayers, grab onto your wallets. I see business relocation money and hospital incentive money being handed out like candy!
