Eyewitnesses help Elk Grove Police apprehend two juvenile unlicensed hit and run suspects



Two juvenile suspects were taken into custody on suspicion of a hit and run vehicle accident thanks to eyewitnesses.

Just before 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, a motorist left his vehicle running and unattended on the 10000 block of Franklin High Road. When the motorist returned, he discovered his vehicle was gone.

A little over an hour later, Elk Grove POlice responded to a hit and run accident on the 10000 block of Wild Orchid Way.  The suspect vehicle struck a parked vehicle then.

Witnesses called 911 and provided a vehicle description and the license plate which confirmed the vehicle was the reported stolen vehicle an hour earlier. The suspects, later identified as a 14-year-old and 15-year-old males both from Elk Grove, ran from the stolen vehicle. 

Witnesses were able to provide timely updates aided responding officers to locate both juveniles. Both suspects were taken into custody and placed in juvenile hall. 

The 15-year-old suspect was charged with motor vehicle theft and resisting/obstructing and the 14-year old with resisting/obstructing.
