Fatal vehicle accident in Elk Grove under investigation

A three-vehicle rush hour accident on Sheldon Road that claimed the life of a motorist is under investigation by Elk Grove Police.

Just before 5 p.m. on Monday, July 8 police officers responded to the accident just west of Sheldon Creek Drive. Responding officers found a 2018 Chevrolet Spark had been involved in the collision.

The driver the Spark, an unconscious female adult was located and taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators believe that the driver of the Chevrolet Spark was slowing down eastbound on Sheldon Road approaching Springhurst Drive when she was rear-ended by a 2015 Mazda CX5. The collision caused the Chevrolet Spark to clip a 2010 BMW M3 and then the Chevrolet Spark came to rest upon the center median. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
