Rep. Bera among over two dozen members of Congress to visit El Paso border operations, detention facility

Rep. Ami Bera will be part of an upcoming U.S. Congressional Democratic delegation visiting border operations.

The visit, which will be on Thursday, August 1 and Friday, August 2 will visit the border operations in El Paso and is hosted by Rep. Veronica Escobar of El Paso. According to CNN reports, the tour will include border cross to Juarez, visiting the US Customer and Border Protection port of entry, a border patrol station, and a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility.

The delegation is headed by House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries of New York. The delegation will include members from the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.

Bera posted the following information this morning regarding the visit.

I'm heading to the southern border this week to investigate the impact of our nation's #immigration system.

A spokesperson for Bera said a statement and photographs on findings will be released upon his return from Elk Paso.
