Running on empty! Alleged reckless driver runs out of gas during pursuit, arrested by Elk Grove Police

An alleged reckless driver was taken into custody by Elk Grove Police after his car ran out of gas during a vehicle pursuit.

On Saturday, July 27, police responded to a call regarding a reckless driver operating near Sheldon and Bradshaw roads in Elk Grove's rural east area. Police dispatchers were given a license plate number which showed the vehicle to be stolen.
The vehicle was located near Bradshaw Road and Elk Grove Boulevard and a patrol officer attempted an enforcement stop. The officer continued to follow the vehicle until additional officers could arrive to assist.
After stopping, the suspect, Jose Luis Aguilar-Carrion, 32 of Rancho Cordova, accelerated and led officers on a  four-mile pursuit that ended when the stolen vehicle ran out of gas. Aguilar-Carrion refused to follow commands and actively resisted the officers but was taken into custody with the assistance of a police K9.
After being detained, records showed Aguilar-Carrion was on probation and had an active warrant out for his arrest. The suspect was treated for injuries then booked into the county jail and charged with motor vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, felony evading, resisting/obstructing arrest and for the active warrant.
