Detrick files semi-annual financial disclosure for Elk Grove's District 3

Elk Grove City Councilmember Steve Detrick filed his semi-annual California Form 460 for the period ending June 30, 2019 as required by state law. The form was filed with the Elk Grove city clerk's office on Friday, July 26 and posted last night.

According to the information, Detrick did not engage in active fundraising activities with the usual contributors to Elk Grove politicians. Detrick, however, did receive a $5,000 donation from his city council colleague, Darren Suen.

Last year Detrick made a $5,000 donation to Suen's failed mayoral campaign against Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly.

Detrick had a beginning cash balance of $3,165. Detrick's expenses were $6,152 which included payments of $2,000 for a contribution to the Bounty on the Boulevard event and $1,950 for undetailed costs for the 2019 Cap to Cap lobbying trip organized by the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce.

Had Detrick not received Suen's donation, his semi-annual costs would not have been covered. Detrick ended the period with a cash balance of $2,013.

First elected to the city council in 2008, Detrick has not announced if he will seek a fourth term representing District 3. A prolific fundraiser, Detrick's inactivity is an indicator that he may not seek another term.

Detrick's 2016 opponent Maureen Craft has announced she will seek the seat in 2020. In her filing, Craft has not started fundraising activities.
