A U.S. Marshall who was part of a team serving a Drug Enforcement Agency search warrant shot a suspect in Rancho Cordova.
Just before 6:30 the morning U.S. Marshals, working with DEA agents were serving a warrant on 9900 block of Palm Grove Drive. U.S. Marshals knocked and announced their police presence and made entry into the residence and were confronted by a male individual pointing a firearm at team members.
As a direct result of the threat, law enforcement fired and struck the man, who sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his hand. Team members immediately took him into custody and rendered first aid until emergency medical services arrived.
As a result of the search warrant, the initial subject, who has not been identified, was located. Both were arrested and multiple firearms were discovered.
