Alcohol, speed appear to be factors in Elk Grove motorcycle fatality

Alcohol and excessive speed appear to have been contributing factors in an afternoon motorcycle accident fatality in Elk Grove police report.

On Sunday, September 1 just after 4:30 p.m. Elk Grove Police responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Elk Grove-Florin Road just south of Sheldon Road. Officers found the driver of the motorcycle had struck the median, was thrown and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Emergency medical personnel took the 42-year old male driver to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The identity of the driver will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner.

Elk Grove Police investigators said based on their preliminary investigation, it appears alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the collision.
