First of the 2020 Elk Grove City Council election campaign ads show up in mailboxes

In what could be considered the marketing kickoff of Elk Grove's 2020 city council campaign, an advertisement for one candidate appeared in resident's mailboxes in the last couple of days.

The advertisement for District 3 city council candidate Kevin Spease is in the annual Town Planner calendar sent to all Elk Grove addresses. The calendar, noted for its discount coupons for area merchants, has advertisements featured for each month of the year.

Spease's advertisements are in premium right side position on the August, September, October, and November pages. The ads include the tagline "Qualified-honest-fair."

The advertisements match the same strategy used by Elk Grove Councilmember Pat Hume, who placed ads in the 2018 Town Planner calendar for his reelection campaign. The calendar is sanctioned as an official publication with the statement "The City of Elk Grove is Proud to Support the Town Planner Resource Guide."

Spease, a Republican, is running against two Democratic candidates, Maureen Craft and Amandeep Singh, for the seat currently occupied by Steve Detrick, who is not running for reelection after serving three terms. In 2016 Spease unsuccessfully ran for mayor against current Mayor Steve Ly.

Spease says he is "Qualified, Honest, Fair.

Craft says “I wanna bring Elk Grove together. Make this a strong community and make sure that we’re all working together"

Ooh, this is a tough choice...I need to read Singh's slogan before I decide who to vote for.

Since most residents haven’t taken the time to go through the 2020 calendar name recognition Is important. Since EGN has made an article out of this information Spease seems to get free campaign attention. We are 6 months away from the fall campaign an here we are. Way to go EGN for finding a great article to write. It is a great way to get the word out early for a candidate who is thinking ahead. 3 words that state the true, Qualified, Honest, Fair! That’s just keeping it simple an away for people to remember.
