Suspect arrested for Elk Grove shooting

A man suspected in a Sunday, December 22 shooting in Elk Grove has been taken into custody.

The suspect, Joshua Thomas McClure, 23, was arrested on Monday, December 23. A Sacramento County Sheriff's Patrol unit observed McClure driving southbound on Highway 99 near 47th Avenue in Sacramento and he was pulled over near Sheldon Road. 

After being arrested, a search of McClure's vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded concealed firearm. Elk Grove Police detectives said the male victim was in a relationship with McClure's former girlfriend. 

After being shot, the victim left the Renwich Avenue apartment and drove to a nearby gas station. He was taken to an area hospital by medical personnel for non-life threatening wounds.   

McClure was arrested for attempted murder and several firearm charges. Arraignment is on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 26.
