Citrus Heights Police investigating possible links between two deaths

Two suspicious deaths in the last several days, one of which has been determined to be a homicide are being investigated by Citrus Heights Police,

Yesterday at approximately 1:45 p.m. the Citrus Heights Police Department was requested by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to respond to the 7400 block of Auburn Oaks Court regarding a suspicious death. The California Highway Patrol was conducting a welfare check on a female at this location as a part of their investigation of a deceased male subject who had been located with a rope tied around his neck alongside the freeway embankment near the border of Roseville and Citrus Heights city limits on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

CHP located the female deceased inside an apartment at the complex and contacted Citrus Heights Police. Detectives responded to the location, took over the investigation, and determined that death appeared to be a homicide.

The identity of the adult female decedent is being withheld at this time as her next of kin have not yet been notified. It is unconfirmed at this time if the CHP death investigation from January 11, 2020, is connected to the homicide investigation.
As detectives are actively investigating this case, anyone with information or knowledge related to this incident to call the Citrus Heights Police Department tip line at (916) 727-5524.
