Cooper receives more support from another independent expenditure committee

Even though California 9th District Assemblymember Jim Cooper (D - Elk Grove) has an enormous financial advantage over three rivals in next week's primary election, he continues to receive support from powerful independent expenditure committees. The most recent support came as a mailer addressed to Democratic voters in-district.

With one week until voting closes in the primary, a group calling itself Californians Allied for Patient Protection (CAPP) dropped the mailer. The piece promotes Cooper advocacy saying the has worked "tirelessly to keep our streets and communities safe for our kids" and a quote from the three-term Assemblymember saying "my passion has always been for children, to their lives better."

According to the mailer, major funding is from the California Dental Association. Other donors to CAAP are listed below.

Donations received in 2019 and 2020.

Interestingly, one of the larger contributors to CAPP, the group calling themselves Driving California's Economy received over $375,000 from California New Car Dealers Association. The California New Car Dealers Association also gave $20,000 to Californians For Jobs and a Strong Economy and  $5,000 to Keep a Cop in the Capitol, Support Jim Cooper which funded a previous mailer and at least two in-district billboards.

As noted on this mailer, "not authorized by a candidate or a committee controlled by the candidate."
