The following statement was released this evening by the Cosumnes Fire Department.

Elk Grove, Calif. – Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), California Department of Public Health, and the Sacramento County Public Health Department, the Cosumnes CSD has expanded its measures to fight the spread of COVID-19 and will cancel or postpone all recreation events, programs, and classes effective March 14, 2020.  The cancellations or postponements will remain in effect consistent with the Elk Grove Unified School District’s timeline for campus closures.

On March 12, 2020, the Governor’s Office directed California public agencies to follow public health guidance to protect public health and slow the spread of COVID-19.

·     Large gatherings that include 250 people or more should be postponed or canceled.
·    Small gatherings held in venues that do not allow social distancing of six feet per person should be postponed or canceled.
·    Gatherings of individuals who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 should be limited to no more than 10 people, while also following social distancing guidelines.

Today, Cosumnes CSD General Manager Joshua Green has authorized the Cosumnes CSD Emergency Operation Plan, which will organize the District’s efforts to help fight the spread of the virus.

Notice of cancelations will be posted and updated at www.yourcsd.com website and on the District’s main Facebook account or Facebook accounts managed by individual programs and events, or by email to registered participants.

Closures to Programs, Facilities and Events:

·     All recreation programs are postponed or canceled and will resume in accordance with the Elk Grove Unified School District’s timeline for reopening school campuses.
·      Small facility rentals, field rentals and picnic rentals for events for more than 250 people are postponed or canceled.
·       Emerald Lakes Golf Course located at 10651 E. Stockton Blvd is closed.

Recreation Services, Facilities and Programs that will continue to operate during this time:

·       Events for less than 250 people may continue but will be evaluated on an individual basis.
·    Our registration counters at Wackford Community and Aquatic Center, the Elk Grove Aquatics Center and the Administration office will remain open during this time period.
·         District Board meetings will continue to run as scheduled.

Participants in any programs that are canceled or postponed will receive a credit on their account during this time period. Rental fees for cancelled events will also be refunded, even if they are within the no-cancellation period. Please give us a call at (916) 405-5600 for any questions.

Because the situation continues to evolve rapidly, we may reevaluate and decide to modify or extend these measures based on guidance from public health officials.  We will communicate any changes with you as we normally would.

There is no higher priority to the Cosumnes CSD than the health and safety of our community and employees. We will continue to use the latest and best information to guide our decisions in the days and weeks ahead.
We sincerely hope you and your families stay healthy.

Please stay tuned for additional announcements.
