COVID19 text purporting to be from former Elk Grove mayor distributed, offers 'Elk Grove-specific resources'

Late this morning a text was sent from a number purporting to be Gary Davis, the former Mayor of Elk Grove. The message can be seen below.
On Davis' website, MayorGaryDavis.com, the former two-term mayor said the following: "We are living in unprecedented times and information is evolving rapidly. I want to make sure Elk Grove residents have access to Elk Grove-specific resources and information."
Davis is rumored to be considering a run for mayor against his former political ally, Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly.

I have a lot of respect for Gary Davis. During his time in office, he was very frugal with the taxpayer's money and exercised a lot or restraint from spending on boondoggle projects. As past owner of a successful chain of coffee stores, Davis knows how to manage finances and can Make Elk Grove Great Again! His endorsement of Elk Grove Honda is all I need to know for my next car purchase too!

Whatever dignity Mr David had left - and it was minimal - has now dissipated forever. This latest stunt of the mayor emeritus, and he likes to be called, are no different than war profiteers. Mr. Davis has dishonored his name and worse, his family.
Gary Davis gave up his political aspirations to spend time with his family. That is certainly more important than than anything he can do as mayor. Family should come first.
While he was mayor and nothing got done during his tenure. Since he left so much progress has been made. He fought hard for the ghost mall; then the casino, lately he's associated with the CNU hospital and their brutal tactics that have done all they could to screw the citizens; now he's a spokesman for EG Honda. (Because of Gary's track record and his inability to be honest I would never buy a car from EG Honda just because Davis is their spokesman).
Gary had this communities support years ago and he got nothing done. Why would we want to go back and do that again?
Gary, your family needs you, take care of them.
