A suspect who was already in custody at the Sacramento County Jail faces additional charges for a drive-by shooting in Elk Grove.

The suspect, Alejandro Villalobos, 19, was arrested for the April 12 drive-by shooting on Lujan Drive. In that incident, Villalobos allegedly shot the victim in the leg, and his gunfire also struck two parked vehicles.

The investigation revealed that before being shot, the victim was standing near two parked vehicles when a vehicle drove by and fired shots in the direction of the victim. The suspect vehicle drove off eastbound on Lujan Drive after the shooting.

A joint investigation by Elk Grove Sacramento Sheriff's detectives identified Villalobos as one of the suspects involved in the shooting. Villalobos was in custody on previous charges of violation of probation and felony burglary and was charged yesterday with attempted murder and shooting into an inhabited dwelling.

Arraignment is on Monday, April 20. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
