South Sacramento 'Sideshow' drivers hits CHP unit, lands in county jail

A sideshow driver who struck a California Highway Patrol patrol vehicle last night is cooling his heels today in the Sacramento County Jail.

Just after 6 p.m. on Sunday, April CHP officers were dispatched to Florin Road near Palmer House Road in unincorporated south Sacramento County regarding a large sideshow underway. CHP officers determined there were between and vehicle with about 300 people at the event.

While attempting to stop the activity, a black Chevy Camaro attempted to evade capture from a CHP unit and fled the scene westbound on Florin Road. A separate CHP unit was responding to assist and was presented with the evading vehicle approaching head-on with his patrol vehicle.

The officer turned left and stopped as the Chevy approached his location. The driver of the Chevy struck the right rear of the patrol vehicle and lost its right front tire in the process and stopped west of the collision scene. The driver, Christian Alvarado Michaca, 18, from Santa Rosa, was taken into custody and booked into the Sacramento County Jail for felony evading and remains in custody and will be arraigned on Tuesday, Aril 14.

Two juvenile passengers, 17 years old and 16 years old, were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The officer of the patrol vehicle that was stuck sustained no injuries.
