California Northstate University, APAPA donates surgical masks to seniors, medical personnel in Elk Grove

In a presentation this afternoon, 15,500 masks were donated for medical personnel and seniors residing in facilities in Elk Grove. The donations were provided by California Northstate University and the Asian Pacific Island American Public Affairs (APAPA).

Other organizations receiving the masks will be for volunteers at Elk Grove Food Bank and medical personnel at Dignity Health's Methodist Hospital in Sacramento. Along with masks, the donation included 100 goggles, 100 face shields, and gel sanitizers. 7,500 of the masks will be sent to senior care and residential facilities in Elk Grove, and 4,000 each for Methodist Hospital and Elk Grove Food Bank.

The presentation at Elk Grove City Hall included remarks CNU's president and chief operating officer Alvin Cheung, APAPA founder C.C. Yin,  and Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly. The funding for the protective items was provided by CNU and the Asian Pacific Island American Public Affairs and a host of individuals.

In his message, Ly reminded people of the public health importance of wearing masks while in public and social distancing. He also noted the masks provided to the Elk Grove Food Bank will not only help their volunteers but their clients as well.

"A portion of this donation will be given to the food bank to hold for any community members that may have a need and can't find masks," he added (see video below).

Nothing really important here, but it is kind of funny when Steve Ly introduced this Mark guy. You'll notice at about the 34 second mark he does not hesitate to worm right up to the front. So much for social distancing and modesty!
