Thanks to an eyewitness in Elk Grove's Camden neighborhood, two suspects who were allegedly attempting the theft of U.S. Mail were apprehended by Elk Grove Police.

At approximately 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, May 17, a resident near Falbright Way and Heathermist Way observed an unrecognizable vehicle positioned near one of the neighborhood's cluster mailboxes. The resident shouted at the person who was prying at one of the slots.

The shouting startled the suspect who got back in the parked vehicle, which had another occupant and left the area. The resident called the police and gave a description of the vehicle and police located it near Bond and Bradshaw roads.

Responding contacted Tehki Bill, 30 and Leonard Anderson, 39. A record check revealed Anderson was on probation and Bill was on parole and had an active warrant out for his arrest.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a large screwdriver, mail belonging to different people from Sacramento, as well as different people’s personal identifying information. Both suspects were arrested on various charges and booked at the main jail.

Arraignment is on Tuesday, May 18 and neither man is eligible for bail.
