Police arrest two on suspicion of attempted burglary of rural Elk Grove residence

Two suspects were arrested by Elk Grove Police for an alleged burglary attempt in the city's rural area.

Just after midnight on Monday, June 8, Elk Grove Police responded to a call regarding two individuals in front of a vacant dwelling on Bader Road. Responding officers detained Miguel Diaz, 19, and Richard Lee Sandoval, 38, both of Sacramento.

Officers determined Sandoval was on probation and a subsequent search led to the discovery of burglary tools. An inspection of the house revealed evidence of an attempted entry.

Both men were booked into the county jail. Sandoval remains in custody and Diaz has been released.
