In a sign of the strength of real estate interests in Elk Grove, developers provide major funding for Spease

In an indication of their desire to maintain their status in land planning issues, real estate development interests have provided major funding to Elk Grove City Council District 3 Republican candidate Kevin Spease.
According to financial disclosures statements filed with the Elk Grove City Clerk's office, Spease received $24,470 in donations between July 1 and September 19. Much of the funding came from real estate development interests.

Among Spease's major contributors in the reporting period were the following:
- Associated Builders and Contractors Northern California - $4,000
- Katherine Bardis-Miry, Reynon and Bardin Homes - $2,500
- Chris Bobo, Bobo Construction - $2,000
- California Apartment Association - $1,500
- California Real Estate Political Action Committee - $2,500
- Committee for Home Ownership - $2,000
- Martin Felleto, Felleto Development - $1,000
- Reynolds & Brown - $4,000
Other noteworthy contributions came from Elk Grove Vice Mayor Steve Detrick, who has endorsed Spease as his replacement for District 3, gave $600, and Phyliss Baltz, President of Methodist Hospitals in Sacramento contributed $100.
Year to date, Spease has collected $49,089 in contributions. Additionally, he has loaned this campaign $30,000 so far.
Spease was an Elk Grove Planning Commissioner from 2014 until his resignation earlier this year, is endorsed by Detrick's fellow council colleagues Pat Hume, Stephanie Nguyen, and Darren Suen. Mayor Steve Ly has endorsed fellow Democrat Maureen Craft.
With the endorsement from Detrick and his fellow councilmembers along with the real estate development donations indicated Spease will adopt the growth and governance policies in Elk Grove recommended by real development interests and followed by the city council.

Sometimes it is so pitiful to actually witness a soul being sold.
This isn't about the 172,000 residents of Elk Grove, or even the "little" people of District 3. This is all about buying another YES vote to help line the pockets of the Granite Bay developers.
