Non-profit realtor association discloses independent expenditure committee in support of Elk Grove Mayoral candidate

In a filing on Tuesday, October 6, the non-profit National Associations of Realtor Fund has recorded financial disclosures with the Elk Grove City Clerk's office in support of mayoral candidate Bobbie Singh-Allen.

The group, which is listed at 430 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago filed their Form 496 showing that it has spent $53,457 in support of Singh-Allen. Independent expenditure committees by law cannot coordinate efforts with candidates.

The $53,457 was used for polling, online advertising, and "voter file." For polling, the trade group spent $15,138, $35,310 for online advertising, and $3,009 for voter file.

As reported recently, the Singh-Allen campaign paid for online ads against incumbent Mayor Steve Ly. The ads sponsored by the NAR Fund have not been identified as of today.

According to its website, the NAR Fund seeks "to protect and promote homeownership and property investment. The REALTOR® Party speaks with one voice to advance candidates that build strong communities and promote a vibrant business environment."

Information filed with the California Secretary of State, the NAR Fund has donated $2 million to a group calling itself the Home Ownership for Families and Tax Savings for Seniors, which is sponsored by the California Association of Realtors.

Independent of the NAR Fund expenditure, on September 25 Singh-Allen reported a contribution of $1,500 from the California Apartment Association's political action committee. For several elections cycles has the CAA has opposed efforts for local and statewide rent control measures.

The Apartment Association is greasing palms in cities statewide, just in case the ballot proposition which permits local governments to decide if they want rent control, passes. Now it looks like a Chicago-based real estate lobby is greasing palms too!

With their "grease", combined with the regular local grease given by the Granite Bay developers, the Elk Grove City Council and their hand-picked candidates could start up a commodity trading business, selling oil on the New York Stock Exchange!
