Sacramento City Councilmember, California Northstate University hospital project advocate reelection bid in peril

A Sacramento City Councilmember who has advocated for a controversial hospital project in Elk Grove is in second place in his reelection bid.

Allen Warren, who represents Sacramento's District 2 is behind challenger Sean Lololee. As of the last results posted after 1 a.m. this morning, Loloee has 55-percent with 4,508 votes to Warren's 3.701 votes for 45-percent.

Warren appeared at a town hall meeting sponsored earlier this year in pre-Covid lockdown days advocating for California Northstate University. First elected to the Sacramento City Council in 2012, the north Sacramento real estate developer has been dogged been several controversies since assuming office and the Sacramento Bee withdrew its endorsement of his candidacy last month.

Should Warren lose, it would be the second Sacramento City Councilmember incumbent defeated this year. In the March primary, upstart candidate Katie Valenzuela won an outright upset victory over Steve Hansen.

Vote tallies for all Sacramento County elections will be updated at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 6.
