Four applicants for interim appointment to Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Trustees to be interviewed

On Tuesday night the Elk Grove Unified Schoo District Board of Trustees will interview four candidates who are seeking the Area 4 Board of Trustee vacancy. That vacancy was created when former trustee Bobbie Singh-Allen was elected Elk Grove mayor lat last year.

According to the meeting agenda for the meeting, the four applicants are Ali Moua, Kishaun Thorntona, Khydeeja "KD" Alam, and Gina Jamerson. The four candidates who will receive public interviews were determined by a subcommittee of three trustees including Nancy Chaires-Espinoza, Carmine Forcina, and Tony Perez.

Each candidate will answer a series of questions on a rotating basis. After the process is complete, the six Trustees could make their appointment.

The initial appointment would be for 30 days and allows for those opposing the selection a process to overturn the board of trustee's action.  Should no opposition surface, the term automatically extends until 2022.

Although there are four candidates to be interviewed, the announcement of the four finalists did not disclose how many applications were received. The interviews will be conducted as a special meeting starts at 5 p.m. and can be viewed on Zoom.
