UPDATED: Overnight Elk Grove homicide under investigation by EGPD

On their social media feed, the Elk Grove Police have announced there was an overnight homicide in the city. The incident has been described as a shooting on the 9100 block of W. Stockton Boulevard.
Updated information from the EGPD noted officers responded to the area at 2:23 a.m. and found the male victim lying in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim, who will be identified by the Sacramento County Coroner, succumbed to the injuries at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and there are no identified suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact the EGPD Communications Center at (916) 714-5115.
