After seven months of rainless weather, Northern Calif. was hit with an atmospheric river bringing heavy downpours and possible flash flooding. Here is an illustration of how one subdivision drainage pit filled over three hours on the morning of Sunday, October 24, 2021.
The red arrow points to a grassy area at 0830 that became submerged three hours later.
