Fundraiser for Sacramento County Supervisor candidate Steve Ly draws over 400 supporters

At a fundraising event held on Thursday night in Elk Grove, Sacramento County Board of Supervisors District 5 candidate Steve Ly drew over 400 supporters who came to cheer on his candidacy.

Ly, the former Elk Grove mayor, is one of four Elk Grove-based candidates seeking the District 5 seat being vacated by Don Nottoli.

Among those speaking on Ly's behalf at the Well Season Dim Sum restaurant were Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee Sean Vang, Joel Boyd and David Phommavong of Parents Advocacy for Change in Education, and Thai Tran, owner of Saigon Bay restaurant and president of the Asian American Business Club whose group had many in attendance. In addition, a major sponsor of the event was prominent business owner C.C. Yin and founder of Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs.

Along with Ly, former Elk Grove Unified School District Trustee Alex Joe, Elk Grove City Councilmember Pat Hume, and Cosumnes Community Services District Director Jaclyn Moreno are seeking the seat. Nottoli has held the seat since 1994 and announced last year he would seek not reelection.

During his presentation, Ly discussed a wide range of topics and noted public service is a crucial but often challenging task but should always be accessible to constituents.

Portions of Ly's talk can be viewed in the video.
